Description

Different teaching method in Anatomy have been proven to concluded that computerized programs are of great help to learn this discipline. We were interested in evaluating the role of computers for teaching normal human Histology. The present work was done with seconds year students of Obstetrics at the University of Chile. Faculty of Medecine. For laboratory periods the students were assigned to two groups (A and B). Group A worked in the multimedia Laboratory of the Faculty of Medicine where each student has a PC and complementary colours printed pictures. Group B worked in the laboratory of microscopy with the help of colour slides projection. The teaching staff was assigned to either group according to their choice. Evaluation was performed using slides specially fit for this purpose and colour printed pictures. A questionary of student’s opinion on the methodology was ran. There was nos significant difference in the average mark of students both groups. However, the cuestionary of opinion showed that it is easier for the student to learn Histology using PC and printed pictures. These results suggest that interactive teaching supported by computers is a very useful tool to reinforce the traditional teaching method in Histology.
