Biography

Biochemist from the University of Santiago de Chile, in her undergraduate thesis she worked with Microsatellite Markers at INIA La platina, Ministry of Agriculture, Consortium Project. Doctor in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Chile, her doctoral thesis obtained an award in the Incentive contest for patenting and technology transfer of the University of Chile. She did an internship in the Bee Pathology laboratory at the Centro Agrario de Marchamalo, (Guadalajara, Spain). She worked as a researcher on the FONDEF IDEA CA 13I10207 project at Universidad del Desarrollo (Santiago, Chile). Since 2014, she founded and leads the Bioactive Natural Products Laboratory (PNB-LAB) at the Biomedical Research Center (CIB) of the Diego Portales University School of Medicine, began as director of the project Semilla 201521 UDP “Characterization of essential oil obtained from native plant species such as Cryptocaria alba and Peumus boldus with antibacterial effect against Helicobacter pylori”. She is currently director of the FOSIS INNOVA 1168110100098-19 project and Co-investigator of the Corfo 18BPCR-100263 project. She is a member of COLOSS – Honey Bee Research Association.

Her lines of research are: Extraction and chemical characterization of natural products; Characterization of the antibacterial activity of extracts of plant or animal origin; Characterization of the antifungal activity of extracts of plant or animal origin; Determination of the antioxidant activity of natural products; Characterization of the toxicity of plant extracts; Determination of the antitumor activity of natural products; Natural products and their applications in the control of beekeeping pathologies; Extracts of vegetable origin and their use as natural pesticides; Natural products and their applications in veterinary pathology control; Natural products and their applications in the control of human pathologies; Natural products and their applications in the food industry.
